In 1952, Eilis, Lacey is an adolescent woman of Enniscorthy, in southeast Ireland tiny town. She performs weekends at a store managed by the horrible Miss Kelly. Rose, Eilis's older sister has fixed her an arrangement to be able to go to US to look for a better future. She left but started to suffer from food poisoning and seasickness and in the end; she was locked out by her cabin neighbors in the toilet. The lady in the rubbish below her, a skilled traveler, assists her and gives her support and advices for Eilis's way in to the US and living in Brooklyn, the fresh home to lots of Irish immigrants.
